The First Little Mosque on the Prairie
One-hour Documentary
The First Little Mosque on the Prairie tells the story of Edmonton’s Lebanese community through the Al-Rashid – then and now. A historical symbol for peaceful co-existence, Canada’s first mosque is a living testament to the faith, tolerance and community spirit of Edmonton’s Muslims. Viewers of this documentary will meet descendants of the Mosque’s founding families, the women who worked to move the mosque to Fort Edmonton and newer Muslim residents of Edmonton. In the process, the film will offer another perspective on the Muslim Arab community of Canada, a group that has come under increasingly intense and frequent scrutiny since 9/11.
